Why should brides consider a HMUA?
A brides wedding day comes once in a lifetime- and their pictures will last through the years. Having a hired experienced HMUA for your wedding day really does set the tone for how you feel the entire day. You may not remember much from your wedding day, but everyone remembers how they felt the day of their wedding. Hiring a professional HMUA is going to be your best bet for starting the day off right feeling beautiful, relaxed in a makeup chair, and completely taken care of.
What should brides look for when hiring their Hair and Makeup Artist?
When looking for a HMUA there are definitely things you should be looking for when hiring.
One, EXPERIENCE. When inquiring about your wedding hair and makeup, you will want to ask your possible HMUA if she/he has a website or some kind of portfolio you can glance at. Making sure that their style and skills will match what you are looking for.
Two, REVIEWS. You want to make sure they are punctual, professional, and overall a happy people person. The kind of energy you would want around on your wedding day.
Three, COMMUNICATION. Something every bride can agree on is how amazing it is to have vendors who are easy to communicate with. Someone who seems well organized and on top of staying connected with you and the details with with when, where, and what they will be doing on your wedding day.
Four, HAIR AND MAKEUP PRODUCT QUALITY. It’s not a bad thing to ask a HMUA what kind of products they may use. High end products are used for the longevity of the hair and makeup on your wedding day!
What sets your work apart from others?
What sets me apart from others is my overall experience I give my brides. I am a very confident, happy, and calming kind of person. I am punctual, I am incredibly dependable, I also put my clients as ease with higher end products knowing they are going to have quality work done, and last throughout the entire day. I also provide my brides with “touch up kits” or offer on-location touch ups in between a ceremony and a reception.
I pay close attention to my clients needs with their skin or hair. Using the right products to correct sin care conditions; such as, quality skin care before makeup is applied to the skin to leave their skin feeling amazing even after they remove their makeup!
What’s your process with brides prior to the wedding day? What can they expect?
Prior to the wedding day I consult with my bride with what her needs may be, what services she is wanting, if there are any others who will need services, as well as time, location, etc. As soon as I have an exact date for their wedding I require a deposit to book their date and time slot for their wedding day! We will consult about scheduling a trial run to run through everything they will be wanting. With a typical bride I will get to meet her between 3-4 times- trial run, engagements, bridals, and finally the wedding day. A week prior to the wedding day I will talk to my bride over the phone to get final details about the wedding day and location as well as all details + emergency contacts I may need!
What’s your favorite thing about working with brides?
Where do I begin? I LOVE my job. I feel so inspired everyday working with brides. I love hearing their stories and what brought them to that point in life with their sweethearts. You get to see such beautiful parts of peoples lives. I love playing a small, but also very large part in one of the biggest days of their lives. I love having the opportunity to make my brides feel their absolute best and ready for the moment they say I do! It’s so rewarding to have someone sit in your chair unaware of their personal beauty they already have and be able to show them that they are truly beautiful. You really see a change in people- it’s pretty amazing! I could go on and on about why I love working with brides, but basically having my job you get to feel like a fairy god mother with a makeup brush.
