Gone are the days of cringeworthy, stiff studio portrait sessions of the 80’s. Thank goodness. BUT studio sessions have made a comeback in the past few years, and I’d be lying if I didn’t say they’re some of my favorites. Studios are often overlooked when brainstorming ideas for your upcoming session, so here are some of my favorite reasons to add them back on your list!
Studio sessions take away distracting backgrounds and bring the focus back onto you and your lover. Though mountain ranges, beaches, and gorgeous backdrops are amazing as well- shooting in a studio makes you two the complete focus of your images. They’re clean, simple, and all about you.
Because shooting in a studio is so simple, they take away all the elements of “trends”. When you think about trends your thoughts often go to hair or fashion choices, but locations go in and out of style too! Studios are clean and minimal, giving you a simple timelessness you can’t often find in many other locations. A solid colored studio won’t date your session to a specific trend or time.
Studios are a great choice year round, but specifically the perfect location if your session is taking place in the winter or hot summer! Shooting in extreme weather isn’t for everyone- and it can be risky during the winter especially when you can’t rely on consistent weather. If you don’t want to worry about freezing noses or sweaty faces, studios are the perfect place to plan on your session!
